📺 Making Moves Towards Media Mogulhood
Week 23-24; First Steps Into Consistent Media Production; Getting My Notion Back On
In this series, I want to give an overview of what I'm doing (sort of) professionally from week to week. What projects have I been working on? What was the progress and what were the struggles? Any thoughts on that? Lessons learned? That kind of thing. The main goal is to document this for myself, but if you're interested you're welcome to read along of course!
What Have I Been Up To?
▶️ First Steps Into Consistent Media Production
With the busy weeks of Indigo, milestone planning for Cat Cafe Manager 2, and the announcement of the **WerkPlantfoundation** behind me, I finally found myself with more energy and headroom for new things. I had apparently anticipated this, having planned several projects in advance—all centered around media production.
I've worked as both a music producer and video games producer for quite some time, but diving deeper into media production has been a longtime wish of mine. In the back of my mind, I've always dreamed of producing a movie someday, but I'm happy to take it one step at a time.
The media productions I'm currently diving into are two recurring projects—similar yet distinct:
The WerkPlant podcast, together with Roy van der Schilden.
The QuestBeat weekly stream, with my longtime collaboration buddy Sonya Vos
For the podcast with Roy, there's been quite a build-up. We've already completed two seasons with Roy hosting various guests discussing the business side of the creative industry from a sustainable independence perspective. What's new this time is that we're co-hosting the podcast remotely, discussing these same topics—just between ourselves!
As producer, my main challenge is maintaining a regular bi-weekly uploading schedule, which means quick turnarounds on edits and publishing tasks. It's incredibly fun though, and I'm excited to see where we can take this and which guests we might feature!
The QuestBeat streams with Sonya are still more experimental and present additional challenges, particularly with the video component. After two Friday afternoon streams focused mainly on perfecting our settings (and playing Mario Kart!), we're ready for our first proper stream this Friday—playing video games and discussing their music. Visit QuestBeat's Twitch page for more information and stream notifications!
🤓 Getting My Notion Back On
Having more headroom also meant time to work ahead and tackle structural tasks for both Cat Cafe Manager 2 and the Roost Games cooperative. And what better tool for this than... Notion?
As you may already know, I love Notion. Just like when I'm playing games or making music, I completely lost track of time while creating new marketing and influencer-outreach dashboards for Cat Cafe Manager 2 and setting up an interactive company overview for the Roost Games cooperative members. I might share both as templates in the future, but for now, I'm very happy that they exist and that I had fun creating them!
What's next?
In the coming weeks, I'll continue working on the podcast and stream while maintaining my commitments to Mighty Merch and Cat Cafe Manager 2. I've got two exciting events in early July—a general assembly for Roost Games and a visit to the Breda University of Applied Sciences games expo. I'll keep you blogposted!
